The Dun Laoghaire Rathdown Community Addiction Team (DLR-CAT), which has been operating since 2004, provides an addiction service that assists adult persons to address their substance misuse within a community context and supports their integration into mainstream services and into the community and society more broadly.  DLR-CAT works primarily to Action 32 of the National Drug Strategy, 2009-16, but it also works within the following: 33, 40, 41, 42, 43 and 44.  The Project is fully funded through the Task Force process. Its structure includes an independent Board, consisting community and statutory personnel, and the team consists of a manager, an administrator and five project workers. It is based in rooms in the Sandyford Industrial Estate, served by both LUAS and bus routes. The following services are provided

  • Drop-in, harm-reduction advice and information, and pre-assessment contact
  • Initial and comprehensive assessments
  • After-care support
  • Family support services

Individual service users are supported in care planning, as guided by the National Rehabilitation Framework and are both supported through CAT’s different programmes and/or referred to other services, as appropriate.
