Alcohol-related deaths and alcohol sales

A study on regional variations in alcohol sales data in England and Scotland explored regional variations in alcohol-related mortality and although the relationship was reported as weak in some instances, it was nonetheless suggested that regional death rates are linked to volume of alcohol sales, which in turn is linked to levels of consumption. It is suggested that more convincing evidence of the relationship could be explored through using data from a wider range of sources. Further information
