Alcohol Strategy Group

An Alcohol Strategy Group, with personnel from a range of community, voluntary and statutory agencies held an inaugural meeting in May. The group has met three times since and is engaged in preparing a workplan for 2016. It is expected that this Workplan will be launched later this year, with During 2015 four members of the group undertook training through the National Community Action on Alcohol Project.  The Group also drafted a funding submission to the Dormant Accounts Fund with the following aims:

  • To provide direct, practical and other assistance to the DLR Alcohol Steering Group in its formative development.
  • To roll-out two DLR-based initiatives for reducing alcohol harms, targeting local communities, and youth and sporting organisations.
  • To develop information / communication strategies for tackling alcohol-related harms within the DLR area.
  • To promote and develop a commitment to monitoring and evaluation across all Steering Group supported activities.
