National Drug Strategy 2017 -

The Minister for Communities and Drugs, Catherine Byrne, TD has announced a public consultation for the next National Drug Strategy from 2017. The Minister in a statement, made a particular appeal to members of the public to get involved in this consultation and called on service users, parents, families, young people, organisations to provide their views on the current drugs situation in Ireland.

The consultation takes place over a six week period, which has already commenced since last Tuesday, September 6th and will continue until Tuesday, 18th October. A public consultation questionnaire is available online and there will also be a series of public meetings, although unlike the last Public consultation, which had several such meetings, this one only has four. If you wish to attend the Dublin meeting it is really important you let that be known now by simply sending an email expressing that wish with your contacts details to:

The Dun Laoghaire Rathdown Drug and Alcohol Task Force will be making its own submission to this Consultation and we encourage others to do so; indeed, we will make our submission available to you by email in early October, thereby providing an opportunity for you to agree or disagree with our submission.

The Task Force will organize its own public meeting on this topic and details in relation to this will be issued later next week.
